However, disclosing the numbers of the numbers in the national capital and NCR, the cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar district has risen to 138, health authorities confirmed on Tuesday. Of these, 74 are men and 64 are women. Officials from the district health department clarified that the majority of these patients are showing only mild symptoms akin to common cold and fever.

“All but two of the patients are currently in home isolation. Only two have required consultation through OPD, and no hospitalisation has been deemed necessary so far,” a senior health official said, adding that surveillance and contact tracing efforts are already underway in high-density residential areas.

According to the Union Health Ministry, Kerala is currently leading with 1,446 active cases, contributing to more than one-third of the national tally. Maharashtra, meanwhile, reported the highest number of deaths, with 10 fatalities attributed to COVID-related complications in recent days.

Health officials in both Kerala and Maharashtra are conducting surveillance and enforcing precautionary measures, particularly in high-risk zones such as hospitals and elderly care facilities. States have also been asked to ensure genome sequencing of samples to detect any potential variants of concern.

Although hospitalisation rates remain low, experts are advising citizens—particularly the elderly and those with underlying conditions—to take basic precautions, such as masking in crowded spaces and avoiding unnecessary travel.
